2011 Environmental Summit: Air Quality and Public Health

How does air quality affect the health of Hoosiers? Are there particular impacts on children or urban dwellers? What’s being done to reduce air pollution and how will that impact our health and Indiana’s economy?

Join us on Monday, June 6, for the third Indiana Environmental Health Summit at the Campus Center at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, 420 University Blvd.

  • Known health effects of air pollutants
  • Research on air quality and health, including multi-pollutant exposure
  • Effects of climate change on urban health * Clean Air Act’s major accomplishments in public health protection
  • The current state of air quality in Indiana
  • Mercury deposition in Indiana * Economic impact of proposed national air quality standards
  • Air quality and children’s health in Indiana
  • Recent utility settlements and their impact on air quality

The summit is a collaborative effort of the IU School of Medicine’s Department of Public Health, the Center for Urban Health at IUPUI, and Improving Kids' Environment.

The summit includes a boxed lunch. There is no fee to attend the summit, but your donation of $20 to help offset costs would be welcome.
