Regenerative Biology and Medicine
presented by Dr. David Stocum
The moral dilemmas of today's regenerative medicine have their roots in the Mary Shelly's novel "Frankenstein", published in 1818. In this lecture, Dr. Stocum will trace the technical development of regenerative biology and medicine from organ transplants through stem cells to the "holy grail" of regenerative medicine, the induction of regeneration directly at the site of injury, and the bioethical issues associated with these advances.
