Applications are not normally considered on a rolling basis. They are generally considered en masse after the application deadline. You will be notified within a few weeks after the decision is made.  

The degrees are conferred through the Purdue University system, and entering students must meet the minimum admission requirements of the Graduate School of Purdue University and departmental requirements. Complete the IUPUI Graduate Admissions Application

General Admission Requirements

The following guidelines are both School of Science and the Forensic and Investigative Sciences Program minimum requirements for admission to our MS degree program:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in any of the Physical, Life or Forensic Sciences (i.e chemistry, biology, forensic science)
  • GPA: 3.0 or greater
  • GRE general exam
  • TOEFL: 79
  • Two(2) reference letters
  • Personal Statement

It is strongly preferred that some (if not all) of the following courses have been successfully completed prior to admission, and is specific to the track chosen:

Forensic Biology Concentration

  • Genetics
  • Population Genetics/Statistics
  • Biochemistry
  • Molecular Biology

Forensic Chemistry Concentration

  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Instrumental Analysis
  • Statistics

Application Deadlines 

  • Thesis MS:  January 15th, 2017
  • Non-Thesis MS: March 15th (Summer - May or Fall Enrollment, August), October 15th (Spring Enrollment, January) every year.
