Miz Wizard's Science Secrets Coming to IUPUI

(March 4, 2009)-Do you know what famous Nobel Prize winner gave birth to another Nobel Prize winner? Here's a hint: it was a woman. You will get the answer to this question and many others when attending "Miz Wizard's Science Secrets" on Wednesday, March 11t,, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the IT Building, Room 152 (535 W. Michigan St. on the IUPUI campus).

As a part of the IUPUI Women's History Month celebration, Jane Curry will perform her one-woman show, a humorous and historically accurate play about women's contributions to science, engineering, invention, math and revolutionary research. Jane Curry is an international performer, former English teacher, author and storyteller who frequently presents her one-woman plays on college campuses. She was born in Speedway and is a graduate of Hanover College in Hanover, Ind. She received her Ph.D. in American Culture from the University of Michigan. This is her first performance on the IUPUI campus.

This multi-media show is staged as a cable TV show, "Miz Wizard's Science Secrets," incorporating slides, video, music and even some demonstrations of physical and chemical principles. (Most of the time they don't explode, she claims.) Her performance is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the IUPUI Office for Women and the Purdue School of Science Undergraduate Student Council and made possible with funding from the 40th Anniversary Celebration Fund.
