Physics Professor Uday Sukhatme Selected as Provost of Pace University

IUPUI Chancellor Charles R. Bantz announced today that physics professor Uday Sukhatme, Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties, has been selected as provost of Pace University in New York City. 

“This news is wonderful as well as sad. Uday is a remarkable leader, scholar and administrator. I will miss him greatly,” Bantz said.

He will assume the role of Pace provost, effective May 21, 2012.

Pace University President Stephen J. Friedman made the announcement at Pace, saying:

“I am delighted that Uday Sukhatme is joining the talented Pace team in this very important position. He will lead significant further advancement of our academic programs and faculty development, with a strong focus on the special strengths of each college and school, which are key components of our strategic plan. His academic credentials, strong record of research, and proven success at large and complex academic institutions will be invaluable to our faculty and students.”

Sukhatme has played an instrumental role at IUPUI in developing an academic plan to enhance research, teaching, service, and campus resources.

IUPUI will appoint a search committee for his successor.
