Psychology Faculty Receives 2013 IUPUI Research Trailblazers Award

SalyersMichelle P. Salyers, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology at IUPUI, has been named a recipient of the 2013 IUPUI Research Trailblazers Award.

Salyers also is co-director of the ACT Center of Indiana, a research and training center focused on evidence-based mental health practices that support recovery in adults with severe mental illnesses.

The primary focus of her research is psychiatric rehabilitation, focusing on adults with severe mental illnesses. She has experience in evaluating and recommending mental health programs for both patients and staff at facilities that treat such conditions. She is committed to helping mental health service providers deliver services that are based on the best research evidence available.

The Research Frontiers Trailblazer Award recognizes outstanding IUPUI researchers who are showing great promise in becoming nationally and internationally known for their accomplishments in advancing the frontiers of knowledge.

The award was presented on April 5, 2013, at the annual IUPUI Research Day. The Office of Vice Chancellor for Research selects recipients for the award. Anna Malkova, Ph.D., associate professor of biology, received the award in 2012.
