My research interests are in the field of Geochemistry, which includes isotope analysis and chemical mechanisms for trace elements in water and carbonate molecules. I will be researching how mussel shells in freshwater uptake certain chemical compounds and how this can be used in creating a timeline for geochemical water concentrations. I theorize that it will be possible to use this to chronologically map the geochemistry of freshwater bodies. At IUPUI, I am a GK-12 Fellow funded by the National Sciences Foundation. I use my science background to help teachers in the local school systems. I teach and create lessons for children in grades 4 through 12. The main purpose of this program is to promote science knowledge and the use of innovative techniques to encourage young students to understand all science by having exposure to "real" scientists and their research.
